Need help in planning logistics, LOL

Will be in port from 2-11, still wanting to do atleast part of a beach day. Any beaches with decent snorkeling from the shore? Also would love to poke around a good shopping area. Can someone let me know the easiest and most hassle-free way to accomplish this? I'm assuming we hop a cab to the beach (which beach, how far from the ship and how much will that cost us?) and then hit up a little souvenir shopping (nothing specific, the standard tshirts and christmas ornaments, unless there's something uniquely from Curacao I need to know about). Is the shopping area a quick cab ride from this beach? How late are the shops open? We're the only ship in town, so I'm assuming that bodes well for us to be able to get a chair and a spot on a decent beach. Also- how far from the shopping area back to the ship and how much in cab fare?
