Balcony GTY Questions

We are now less than 3 weeks from sailing and balconies are nearly sold out for our cruise--there is only 1 left. We booked a GTY--so I guess my question is when will we get our assignment? Also, what happens if they are sold out of balconies? I know that there's the chance of no-shows but they won't know about that until check-in starts.

I've never booked guarantee, so I have no idea. My thoughts are they will make sure you have a balcony or put you in a better room. But I don't know that with certainty.

If you book a balcony guarantee you'll at least get a balcony.

 

In all the years on Cruise critic I don't remember seeing any post about people booking a certain category and given a category lower.
