More cheers questions

If you've done the cheers program, answers would be helpful, if you haven't, please don't speculate, I'm already confused over people who have done it and those who think they know (including my own reading online)

a few questions I haven't seen answered in the other threads,

1) do soda's count towards the 15 drinks

2) do they charge you for your disembarkement day

3) if you bought it on the second day, do they make it retroactive to day one, or just start charging you from day 2.

4) Did you pay tax on any of your drinks (the program says you will while in US waters)

Questions 1,2, and 3 are all no. You are correct about taxes being added while in US waters. If you buy package on second day you do not pay for the first day before you signed up for the package.

Thank you. the deal is most certainly worth it for me then. I appreciate it.

I've did the cheers program on the Victory in Sept.

1) do soda's count towards the 15 drinks. All Non Alcholic drinks do not count toward the 15 drinks.

2) do they charge you for your disembarkement day. I was able to get drinks on disembarkement day with no charge.

3) if you bought it on the second day, do they make it retroactive to day one, or just start charging you from day 2. They will charge you from day 2 and drinks you had on day 1 you would pay for those as no having the program.

4) Did you pay tax on any of your drinks (the program says you will while in US waters) Yes you pay taxes on only drinks you order until your in international waters. I only seen this from the "Home port" when in St. Thomas I was not charged taxes.

you were able to get drinks on the disembarkment day, but were you charged the 49.80 for that day... IE I embark on Sunday, disembark on Saturday. Do I pay 345.80 (7 days worth SU-SA) or 296 (6 days Su-Fri)

Ok, so it is better to wait till you enter international waters and buy the package then?

No, with or without the program any drink before international water will be taxed. Any drink ordered before buying the package will be paid for like normal. They do not go back and take those charges away just because you buy the package.

I buy the package before ordering my 1st drink.

I have one question, if you reach your limit of 15 drinks, will they let you purchase a drink at normal price or are you cut off til 6 am the next morning?

Sorry, I can not answer this. When I had the Cheers program in Sept, it was still in it's "testing phase". Back then they said there was a 15 limit but I know one day I had 18, all at no charge.

It doesn't make any difference. Any drinks ordered before you hit international waters have local tax added to them anyway - whether you pay for them or they are part of the Cheers package. The ones we ordered before sailing with the Cheers package we were charged usually less than $1.00 for tax depending on the price of the drink.

If you are thinking of getting the package, go ahead and buy it since they won't go back and deduct off the drinks you bought before you signed up and the tax is there either way on the homeport drinks.

Just want to clarify this. If you buy Cheers as soon as you board, you are not charged tax on the package price for the entire cruise just on individual drinks you get while in US water?

Does anyone know if you can get buckets of beer with the cheers program? My wife and I drink the same and it's always cheaper to buy buckets....or would we have to buy singles?

No buckets of beers. :( You have to buy singles and at five minutes apart.

Correct, Tax is NOT charged on the package. Tax is only on drinks in the Home Port.

Were you able to get unopened beers as part of the cheers program?

Also, I have read conflicting reports on the 15 drink limit. It seems like it use to be a guide to questions sobriety, but now it is a hard stop. Is that correct?

Thanks

On a 6 day cruise the price is $296.35 per person (including the gratuity). So, no debarkation day isn't included and I would assume that any drinks you order on that day are charged to your S&S account at the per drink price.

When you pay for the Cheers program while still at the embarkation port it includes the gratuity but nothing for taxes......when you order a drink at the same time instead of your receipt showing $0.00 it's going to show the appropriate tax. I have charges on my statement of $0.70 and $0.46

Soda's and frozen virgin drinks are not included in the 15 drink total....Coffee is not included in the plan at all....

There were several days on the Breeze where I knew I had signed receipts for 7 or 8 drinks....but when I would ask how many I had already had they would say 5??????? So there is some ability for the bartenders to ring a drink up under Cheers but not have it count toward the 15 drink total....

I've been told different things by different bartenders about reaching the limit....one told me that if I reached the limit, they (the bartender would determine whether to serve me or not)...another told me it would be the bar manager to make that determination....and another told me that if I reached the limit just to come see her and she would serve me.

I actually had the Cheers and the On Us program, but even though by the evening when I would start drinking in the Casino, I never felt drunk....I think it was because I was more aware of having to kind of pace myself instead of just sitting at a bar and order one after another.......

Most days I came close to or went over my 15 drink limit....but that was from about 10am until 1 or 2am.....

Hi, I will start by saying we did the Cheers program on the Legend on Jan 27 and I think part of the problem is the servers are very confused by the program. We found, on the Legend at least, the servers had a very bad attitude towards the Cheers program and told us they feel they are loosing money because of it. For most servers, not all, once they found out we had the Cheers program it was very difficult to get them to come back by and instead we ended up getting our own drinks.

1) do soda's count towards the 15 drinks - In theory no, but we were told on the ship if the server swipes your card the system doesn't know the difference and counts it towards the 15. Most servers did not swipe for soda's, but some did and I would ask them not to. I got yelled at by one server for asking that as she said she had to swipe the card, etc. I never did actually hit 15 drinks so I'm not sure the actual effect.

2) do they charge you for your disembarkement day - Sorry, didn't try, we were off by 9, too busy with everything to think about getting a drink.

3) if you bought it on the second day, do they make it retroactive to day one, or just start charging you from day 2. - Sorry didn't try, but I don't think it is retroactive.

4) Did you pay tax on any of your drinks (the program says you will while in US waters) - Yes, we bought it while in Tampa, and while still in US waters we paid tax on each drink, so the first day there are a bunch of $0.53, $0.51, etc. charges.
