Casino open between Tampa & Key West?

Hi all - In 2 weeks, I'll be on the Ryndam & my finace loves the casinos. Our first night we will leave Tampa & head to Key West, FL. Does anybody know if the casino will be open the first night? Technically, we won't be in international waters, but I wasn't sure.

Yes you will - 12 miles or more offshore.

The casino will be open within an hour of your leaving Tampa.
IIRC it takes about 45 min to pass the Skyway bridge, then another 30-40 min or so to get 12 miles out. So lets say 1.5 hr after leaving Tampa. :)

edit: my Explorer for our most recent cruise from Tampa 12/2010 says "Due to local laws and regulations the Casino will open shortly after 8:00pm" We sailed around 5:00.

According to time stamps on my pictures for two Tampa sailings we passed the Skyway bridge at 6:49 and 7:10. That's still 5 miles or so before Anna Maria Island, so in the second case we wouldn't have gotten 12 miles out until a little after 8:00, just like the Explorer said. :)

I wasn't aware OP wanted a precise time the casino would open.

It even might vary from one cruise to another. When it is foggy in Tampa, it could take longer. A clear day, not so long.

Sorry if I misled you, OP. Please don't stand at the casino entrance with a watch in hand. :) :D

The Manager/staff might appear a few minutes earlier or later.

I understood your general question to be 'would the casino open that day/evening?"

My regrets.

Sorry, I didn't intend to do that initially, but just to point out that it would not be "within an hour" as you said because first you have to get out of Tampa Bay. :o

Oh, you didn't mislead me, so don't worry about it! Personally, if I spend more than 30 minutes in the casino the entire week, I'll be surprised. I will let me fiance know it will be open that night - I'm sure he will be very excited to hear that.

Thanks for all the responses! :D
