Where to Smoke

The other couple traveling with us are both smokers but chose to book an oceanview room in lieu of balcony room since this is their first cruise and wanted rooms to be close together. We are on the Conquest, Rivera Level which is the first floor of rooms. Where would be the closest place for them to go smoke?

If you are midship – the closes place is going to be deck 5 – the casino bar, disco, and one other bar in the aft that I can’t remember the name of are all smoking areas.

If your forward – the “secret deck” on deck 6 – I have no idea if it is designated as smoking but no one is ever out there to say you can’t. Just bring an ashtray with you. I use an empty soda can.

They will also be able to smoke on deck 10 – starboard side.

I am not sure if the open area of deck 3 is designated as a smoking area – but I often see people smoking there too.

On the Conquest you can smoke in Vincents Lounge, deck 5 Aft all day and the bar opens at 7:00, the back half of casino bar, the disco after 10:00 pm and deck 10. One the Elation, the smoking side of Lido and the disco after 10:00 pm, no smoking at casino bar, so there is no smoking inside until after 10:00 pm.

Does Carnival have rules for Electronic cigs?

They say the rules for regular cigarettes apply to E-cigarettes, but on our latest cruise I saw many using them in non-smoking sections of the casino with no problems. I didn't notice anyone using them in other places, but wasn't really paying attention.

Well that is NOT a designated smoking area...so why tell someone to smoke there>?

Maybe the OP's friends should spring for a balcony cause if they do light up in the room they can be fined. I saw a woman on Freedom who was "visited" by her steward, housekeeping supervisor, head housekeeper and a security guard....they wanted her illicit ashtray (inside cabin)...and warned her that if caught again $250 would be on her bill for every incident. She was whining that she had "taken the ashtray for her sister to use on deck" LOL

Hopefully they will restrict it even more and fine smokers who violate the rules.

Also, to other smokers -- I despise the ashtrays used on board the ship, because a number of smokers are not polite enough to make sure their cigarette is extinguished before leaving. When it's breezy on our balcony (nearly always), those ashtrays can also allow sparks to blow when you do try to make sure the cigarette is extinguished. We started bringing our own ashtrays to use on the balcony, a self-extinguishing (Butt Bucket) style. With those, there is no chance of smoldering cigarettes or blowing sparks.
