Do we need a car?

We're flying in 3 days in advance for our cruise. Our hotel is in the 5400 block of Collins Ave. This is not the heart of South Beach. It is farther north.

 

We do plan on doing a few tours but want to relax in our hotel too, so we won't be running all over the place.

 

We will also want to buy a few groceries and some liquor.

 

Do you think we can get by without a car? Are taxis readily available? Is the bus service easy to use? Can we access most things using the bus?

Parking is expensive in Miami Beach, with most hotels charging their guests $25-30+ per day. :eek: Bus and taxi service is good -- I would not bother with a car.

Your a few mile North of what is considered tourist South Beach. If the accommodations you have booked have free parking I would definitely get a rental. Groceries and liquor would be doable without a vehicle but excursions not so much. Check the bus routes (google / etc) for Miami Beach transportation.
