Freeport & Nassau Looking for Beach Recommendations

HI all, we'll be in Freeport and Nassau in April, 8am-5pm each day.

We're really trying to save the money and just hit a beach and do some souviner shopping. My 75 year old mother-in-law will be with us so lots of walking is out for us. I'd really love some recommendations from those who have been there!!

Hreeport...Head over to Our Lucaya......will be about a 10-15 minute cab ride and run about $5 pp. there is a free public access entry next to the police station...once on the beach all the beach should be free.

 

Nassau...We really enjoyed Junkanoo Beach the last time we were there. 10-15 minute walk from the port just past the British Colonial Hilton. have been reports of broken glass mixed in the sand but when we were there it was not too bad....actually one of the best times we have ever had in Nassau.....looking forward to going back when we cruise there in April.

We'd like a beach where we can get chairs, 3 of the 4 of us are too old to just sit on towels ;). Do they have chair rentals at any of the beaches?

I am going to be on the same cruise as you are. My itinerary says 8:00-5:00 at Freeport, but 7:00am to 1:00am for Nassau. Is this a change?

Go to Tony Macaroni's in Freeport. Take a taxi from the ship. Tony's in on Taino Beach. Great food, excellent entertainment, nice beach and beach chairs. It will cost you the taxi ride ($14 each round trip), and whatever food and drinks you purchase...but the food will be the best on the island!

can you bring your own small cooler?

just got off the ship yesterday and in Freeport we took a taxi $10 per person (round trip) to Port Lucaya Marketplace. Approx 15 minute ride.

We were dropped off at the casino a block away next to the police station is a free beach access. You can rent a chair for $10. No towels to rent, so if you need one bring your own.

 

Across the street from the casino is a marketplace with lots of shopping and places to eat. Also a courtyard where a man name mango sings with plenty of table and chair to relax and enjoy.

If you're going to toni macaronis.. no.. they are a food establishment, that would be rude. But the surrounding beach is public. You can bring a cooler, towels etc and hang out all you want.

 

Junkanoo beach is next door.. you can rent chairs from them.. and a cooler would be fine.

Tony Macaroni's is on Taino Beach, which is just next door to Junkanoo Beach Club. You can take the shuttle (cab) to Junkanoo and walk.. they are virtually the same beachfront.
