gsb Posted June 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2005 Any reason not to do this? I know Budget has a location there. No Int'l drivers license to mess with--can cover a lot of territory--Nice, Eze, Monte Carlo at your own pace. $53E plus tax. Any thoughts? The Liberty comes into the Port of Cannes, not Villefranche. lwscrs Posted June 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2005 We rented a car last week in Villefranche - had no problems. We were able to see everything we wanted to see.
cberge Posted June 10, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2005 No problem as long as you are not going to do this in the summer as you will sit in traffic more than naught and not see as much. The area out of season is much easier to get around. Tania Posted June 10, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2005 I personally wouldn't drive into Nice. There's a lot of stop and go traffic. Cannes is close to the peage highway...bring lots of change as you have to throw coins into a tool basket every few kilometers. Try Eze, Grasse, Tourette-sur-loup, St Paul de Vence and a trip into Provence for wine tasting and a gastromonic lunch. If you do decide to head into NIce and Monaco, be sure to rent a car with manual transmission. The steep grades warrant it...signs actually tell you to downshift instead of brake on some of them...en francais, of course! Enjoy!
