Church Bay Status

Has anyone been to Church Bay recently? Has the hurrican damage been repaired? Is it open? Thanks.

It's open. Damage was not repaired as of April. You can go on it as long as you are somewhat agile. Takes a little climbing as some of the stairs are missing.

It's a great beach for snorkeling. Very picturesque. Plus the bus drops you off right in front of the entrance. Also NOT crowded at all. I think the prettiest part of the South Shore is Astwood Park. It's a challenge to get down to the beach though. Although it can be done. Be sure to bring along your camera.

Was at Church Bay last week. There is a danger sign posted but there were other people there so we carefully climbed down onto the beach. The water was a little rough and I didn't have my fins along so I though the snorkeling was only fair - I saw a lot more at Tobacco Bay which surprisingly was not at all crowded the day we were there.
