Iluvcruising2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author #427 Share Posted March 29, 2013 Port of Muara was a good 45 minute drive into the capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan. We passed by many houses like these on the way in. The tour guide explained that housing was getting more expensive these days.

Iluvcruising2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author #430 Share Posted March 29, 2013 (edited) I am loving the food photos......another quick question......are these the "new" menus? No, they are the old menus. I am not sure when they are rolling out the new menus on the Legend, but I am guessing it should be soon. Iluvcruising2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author #431 Share Posted March 29, 2013 Our first stop was the Mosque. The bus stopped outside and we had to walk in.

Iluvcruising2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author #433 Share Posted March 29, 2013 This was the main entrance. Apparently, the escalator can only be used by the Sultan. Anyway, as non-Muslims, we were not allowed to enter the mosque. So it was just a stop to take some photos.
Iluvcruising2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author #434 Share Posted March 29, 2013 The next stop would be the highlight of our ½ day tour – the Water Village!
Iluvcruising2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author #435 Share Posted March 29, 2013 We would be boarding one of these long boats to take a short river cruise and to visit one of the houses in the water village. One longboat could take the entire coach.

Iluvcruising2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author #437 Share Posted March 29, 2013 We all had to wear life jackets, though the locals didn’t have to.
Iluvcruising2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author #438 Share Posted March 29, 2013 (edited) The guy in white was our tour guide. I assume he could swim. A view from the speeding boat. The water village is quite large and looks rather permanent. Other tour groups going to board their long boat. Iluvcruising2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author #443 Share Posted March 29, 2013 They even build bridges to connect certain parts, built high in order to let the boats pass.
Iluvcruising2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author #444 Share Posted March 29, 2013 (edited) The boat stopped at one of the boat houses. All of us got off and were ushered in this very nice and large living room. Evidently, the owners were already waiting for us. We were served with nice unsweetened tea (tasted like Chinese tea) and there were plenty of local snacks to try. The Brunei local people could speak good English.
