First time in SJ

Due to a broken leg I just cancelled our Oasis cruise so sad. But good news I booked Jewell for June 2014 ! I know a long time but fun planning while I sit here in a cast . Family of 6 with a teenager too. We love the beach so thinking of a hotel on the water but also like to see old town. I read about Isle Verde, Coronado Ojs. Someone please share I know maybe I should get a book. Lol

C C members are usually so good about sharing their travel experiences.

We have stayed in Condado at the Marriott Stellaris, in Isla Verde at the Intercontinental and in OSJ at the Villa Herencia. Got the Marriott and Intercontinental on Priceline. Prefer the Marriott and the Condado area. Enjoyed staying in OSJ last year. Loved walking around the city. We are staying in OSJ again next January at the Hotel Casablanca.

 

If you are staying a few days, maybe a beach hotel is better with a day trip to OSJ. Really depends on what you are looking to do.

Puerto Rico is not that huge, so whichever hotel you choose is only a short drive (30-90 minutes) from many attractions in and around OSJ, e.g. Luquillo and El Yunque. So you could book an inland hotel and plan a trip to the beach, or book a beach hotel and tour OSJ or the rainforest, or just about anything. The major highways are clearly marked.

Haven't stayed there in a while but we always loved El San Juan Resort and Casino in Isla Verde..... right on the beach.

 

We also enjoyed The Ritz which is nearby.

 

Hope your leg heals well and quickly. Sorry you had to cancel your cruise.
