gowolfpack Posted June 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2004 Just researching St. Thomas/St. John for our upcoming cruise and discovered that Carnivale will be going on the week of July 4. Parade on St. John on Monday, July 5, 11am at National Park if anyone is interested. Sounds like a fun time. Renee

nixagal Posted June 19, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 19, 2005 Since the carnivale will be going on do you think it will be a problem getting to and from St. John ? I need to be back to ship before 5 pm. Any one know about this?
The Islander Posted June 19, 2005 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2005 Hello Nixagal, The dates mentioned in the original post are from last year. This year's parade is July 4th. On July 3rd there is a beach jam going on related to Carnival on St. John - its at Oppenheimer Beach and starts at 10am. There will be additional ferry/people traffic related to the beach jam and likely traffic on the road around that beach as there is really no parking there except for a few road side spots. So expect additional traffic. As for the ferry, you shouldn't have a problem as the ferry operators are used to dealing with Carnival - sometimes running more ferries. But I would strongly recommend getting to your return ferry at least 20 minutes prior to depature. Buy a round trip ticket when coming over so you don't have to wait in line to buy tickets should there be a line. And don't wait till the last ferry you can possiably take to make it back for 5pm. And as mentioned be prepared for the possiabiliy of road traffic. --Islander http://www.*****
