Volos, Greece and Sinop, Turkey help

Hi All

 

Can anyone who has been to these ports tell me if they are DIY places? I am not that excited about HAL excursions and the private tours I've seen are about the same. Now I am thinking maybe we can just walk around and see things ourselves, maybe stop and have a glass of wine or something.

 

Any experience/ideas you can share?
