Excursions on Norwegiian cruise

We're taking the Silver Whisper on the June 28-July 5 Norwegiian Cruise and we're looking at possible side excursions: Flam, Gudvangen, Kristiansund, Hellesylt, Geiranger, and Bergen. My thoughts so far are the Flam Railway, hiking ( best bets?) kayaking ( where?) and we already have a Bergen tour set up by our TA. Some of the stops are quite short ( Hellesylt for example is just two hours and it looks like a small village that we can just walk). When should we book with SS and when would be able to navigate on our own? Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks, Karen
