Gem vs. Pearl buffet

I've read some recent posts and reviews that have commented on the poor layout of the Gem buffet. I'm not a big fan of buffets but I thought the layout on the Pearl was really nice. Perhaps I'm wrong but I thought the Pearl was slightly older than the Gem, and each had basically the same design as sister ships. Could anyone who has sailed both explain the differences if they exist?

I have been on both and did not notice any difference at all. As you mentioned they are sister ships and have very similar layouts.
