Best restaurant besides Buddy's

We spend part of the winter in the Progreso area, and a reliable restaurant we frequent on the Malecon (beach) is Flamingos. It is about a four block walk east on the Malecon from where Calle 80 meets the beach. You can sit on the beach under shade and the waiters will cross the street to serve you.

Enjoy

I like the pesce (fish) cerviche. I cannot eat shrimp, but other people like the mixed cherviche. I also like the fried fish. Other people in our group liked the enchiladas suise (white cheese sauce). The botanos (bar snacks) are great. I think their menu is on their web site.

I ate a a really informal place across from where the buses let you off. It is called the Sun & Surf Cafe. It is run by American locals and most of the diners were American locals as well. The fish was the best thing that I ate the entire trip!
