pjunction Posted April 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2013 Looking to book one of these two cruises for 2014. Anyone have any suggestions or opinions as to which one would be more interesting. I've been to Papeete and Moorea and enjoyed it. Anyone with experience in the area that can comment on the stops for each cruise would be great. I was booked on the Explorer (Prince Albert then) when the ship was first introduced for this area. It was cancelled for low bookings and now it's back and would like to try what I first tried to do. jillyf Posted April 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2013 We haven't cruised to this area but had 3 nights at Explora Lodge (Posada de Mike Rapu) on Easter Island and found the island and history fascinating. Both itineraries look interesting but I think ending at Easter Island would be a nice final destination to a cruise. Explora is all inclusive and excursions come in the package so you don't have to worry about booking transport and guides around the island. ging466 Posted April 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2013 I would prefer to end the cruise in Easter Island because then u can stay and tour the island extensively. I spent 5 days there last April and it was fascinating. Explora Lodge is definitely the way to do it....everything they do is sensational and the 'surpise' buffet lunch in a cave is wonderful. Louise22 Posted April 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2013 Hello, pjunction - I was booked on the Prince Albert also when the cruise was canceled. A friend and I have booked Easter Island to Tahiti next October but not on the same ship. We will be on the Caledonian Sky - the trip length is 18 days beginning October 14 and ending November 1st. mrlevin Posted April 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2013 I would definitely take the second cruise for the stop on Pitcairn island; with the zodiacs you can actually get ashore while other cruise lines just anchor and let locals aboard.
