Has anyone done the Home of the Brave tour in Oahu or any other of the historic war memorial tours? I like the idea of having a guide but haven't been able to find much info.

Appreciate your thoughts!

Its really for the history buffs...much more than just the Arizona Memorial. Lots of info on all aspects and locations of the start of the war.

There really is nothing like it...It takes up quite a bit of the day but I understand from people who have done it that it is a remarkable tour if you are into history.

It does not however, include the Missouri which is where the Japanese surrender papers were signed....nor the Bowfin; but you will see them from afar when you visit the Arizona.

We have done "Home of the Brave" twice and feel that it is the most comprehesive tour that details most of December 7. Only drawback is that the Missouri is not included, however it was not a part of December 7, so not really applicable. Need to do Missouri as a separate tour.

"Home of the Brave" is certainly worth the time and money!!!

Check out the Mighty Mo and the Bowfin Sub if you get to the Arizona Memorial since you're already so close.

Also Punchbowl Crater with the National Cemetary of the Pacific. Lots or murals depicting campaigns in the Pacific during WW2. Famed war correspondant Ernie Pyle is buried there.

We just returned from Hawaii two days ago on a land based vacation. We booked all of our tours through Fishbowl Tours. (http://www.fishbowltours.com). Robert's Hawaii (http://www.robertshawaii.com) was actually the tour company that picked us up and took us to Pearl Harbor. You can book with either one. I choose to book with Fishbowl ( even though they are more of a broker) because their web site was very informative and let you know in detail exactly what your tour includes. On their web site click on Pearl Harbor tours then on the right side in small print, click on Stars and Stripes.
