lovevacadays Posted April 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2013 Is the Calypso Pool a covered pool area on the Golden?
Cruisin' Chick Posted April 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2013 It's the pool under the retractable roof.
lovevacadays Posted April 14, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted April 14, 2013 Cool. I wasn't sure if the Golden had a pool with a retractable roof.
Colo Cruiser Posted April 14, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2013 Cool. I wasn't sure if the Golden had a pool with a retractable roof. FYI, the roof will not be opened. :)
Pam in CA Posted April 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2013 Cool. I wasn't sure if the Golden had a pool with a retractable roof.Yup. Covered pool. One of my favorite places is to hang out on the upper area, the Conservatory. Few people and direct access to outside deck. The chlorine smell isn't as strong up there. Besides loungers, they have comfortable chairs and small couches.
Jasperdo Posted April 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2013 Here's a photo of the Calypso Reef and Pool: Golden Princess - Alaska by Jasperdo, on Flickr And here's a photo showing part of the upper level Conservatory that Pam mentioned. As she said, it's usually a nice quiet place to read: Golden Princess - Alaska by Jasperdo, on Flickr
LastUsernameEver Posted April 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 14, 2013 I've never seen the retractable roof opened in Alaska, but, it always seemed to me that one day of every "sunny" cruise (Mexican Riv, Carib, etc.) they make it a point to open it. I sort of wish it was done by popular vote. Sadly, though, it's one of those things handled by the captain's crew, NOT the hotel staff, so, no telling THEM what to do. Cruisin' Chick Posted April 14, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 14, 2013 I don't think it was opened on my two Hawaiian RTs on the Golden, but it was opened during the Hawaiian ports when I was on the Island, I believe.
Jasperdo Posted April 14, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 14, 2013 I've been on 5 Princess cruises with a retractable roof, including warm destinations such as the Panama Canal and Hawaii, and have never seen the roof open. I guess it just depends ...
seamanfs Posted April 14, 2013 #10 Share Posted April 14, 2013 Yup. Covered pool. One of my favorite places is to hang out on the upper area, the Conservatory. Yes agree 100% Last year that's where we ended up most of the time esp near LA. The pool is nice and the crowds don't seem too bad!! Had a wonderful time. lovevacadays Posted April 15, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted April 15, 2013 FYI, the roof will not be opened. :) That's good. I was hoping the Golden had a pool area like the Sapphire does (besides the main pool). Yup. Covered pool. One of my favorite places is to hang out on the upper area, the Conservatory. Few people and direct access to outside deck. The chlorine smell isn't as strong up there. Besides loungers, they have comfortable chairs and small couches. So glad to hear it. Love this area on the Sapphire.
