Golden Princess - Calypso Reef and Pool

Cool. I wasn't sure if the Golden had a pool with a retractable roof.
Yup. Covered pool. One of my favorite places is to hang out on the upper area, the Conservatory. Few people and direct access to outside deck. The chlorine smell isn't as strong up there. Besides loungers, they have comfortable chairs and small couches.

I've never seen the retractable roof opened in Alaska, but, it always seemed to me that one day of every "sunny" cruise (Mexican Riv, Carib, etc.) they make it a point to open it.

I sort of wish it was done by popular vote. Sadly, though, it's one of those things handled by the captain's crew, NOT the hotel staff, so, no telling THEM what to do.

Yes agree 100% Last year that's where we ended up most of the time esp near LA. The pool is nice and the crowds don't seem too bad!! Had a wonderful time.

FYI, the roof will not be opened. :)

That's good. I was hoping the Golden had a pool area like the Sapphire does (besides the main pool).

So glad to hear it. Love this area on the Sapphire.
