janesm Posted June 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2005 Our flight doesn't leave until 9:15 pm on the day of disembarkation. Do you have any ideas for storaing our luggage while we sightsee in Oahu that day? Thanks!
KeystoneCruiser Posted June 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2005 If you book an Oahu shore excursion through the ship on the last day, your luggage will be put under the bus of your tour and stay with you all day. Most of those tours drop you off at the airport. With that late a flight, you could probably do the longer tours.
Sohker Posted June 17, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2005 We just finished our POA cruise 6/5/05. There is a place in the pick up area that will check each bag for $5.00 a piece. I think you have to pick them up by 7:00 pm.
janesm Posted June 17, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted June 17, 2005 Is the pick up area at the pier? Does anyone know if it is possible to check bags at the airport in the morning for an evening flight and then go sightseeing?
bankofdad Posted June 17, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 17, 2005 Is the pick up area at the pier? Does anyone know if it is possible to check bags at the airport in the morning for an evening flight and then go sightseeing? The pick-up area Sohker is referring to is at the pier. As you disembark and gather your luggage, there is a secure (guarded) baggage holding area just to the right of the baggage claim area. Very convenient if you staying in the Aloha Tower or Waikiki area for a while before heading to the airport. We used this service last year after our cruise and it worked out great for us. okstfan just posted a fantastic review which is here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=190874. It sounds like he did what you're thinking of doing, and talks about checking bags in at the airport in advance. Lots of great info in his review! LouChamp Posted June 17, 2005 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2005 We were on the Aloha last August and booked the post cruise Pearl Harbor and City tour. We found it was the perfect way to end the cruise, take in some important sights and then make our way to the airport in an efficient and relaxed manner. We arrived in plenty of time fo rour evening flight and had time to eat at the airport. My parents have done two Hawaii cruises, once on the Constitution and once on the Star. They did the airport luggage drop off once and a post cruise tour once and found the post cruise tour to be the easiest way to go. Just our opinions and we hope you find them useful. All the best
birdcat Posted June 17, 2005 #7 Share Posted June 17, 2005 We also had a late flight and took a cab to the airport and rented a car for the day (left the luggae in the trunk). It was only $25 for the day (if you don't take the optional insurance) for a Buick Century which fit almost all of the bags in the trunk. Then we spent some time driving around Honolulu and saw the few things we had missed before leaving and just dropped the luggage off at the terminal before returning the car - Made things very easy. mshe Posted June 17, 2005 #8 Share Posted June 17, 2005 Rent a car - National Rent-A-Car allows you to rent from Waikiki and return at the airport. National also has pier pickup for free :)
