kaitlynsgrandma Posted June 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2005 My husband and I will be taking our 1st vacation in many years and our 1st cruise ever in October (for our 40th anniversary). Looking forward to seeing some beautiful scenery and lots of history. Would like to make some friends before we sail. :)
ladyjane550 Posted June 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2005 My husband and I are going on the Golden for our 30th on the Sept. 17th sailing. I am so looking forward to it. I have been on this ship before. It is beautiful. Did you get a balcony stateroom? We did - I almost didn't thinking we wouldn't use it much because of the cooler weather. You will have a wonderful time.
Bizzyma Posted June 17, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2005 My husband and I just got back from the Diamond Princess on the Alaskan Cruise starting on May 28th. We had such a good time we are looking at going on the 10/15 or the 10/1 cruise on the Golden. No definite plans yet but I hope we can work it out! We loved our cruise and I know you will have a great time! Bizzyma
kaitlynsgrandma Posted June 17, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted June 17, 2005 Since I suffer from severe motion sickness I told the travel agent to get us something midship. Didn't care if it was inside or outside--just the least amount of motion. She tells us we have an outside with an obstructed view (2 lifeboats). Not a problem for us--at least on our first cruise. If we have a good experience and decide to go on another we will probably be more selective next time. My husband enjoys cold weather so I imagine he will be outside more than inside. I am really looking forward to this and pray I don't get too sick.
kaitlynsgrandma Posted June 17, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted June 17, 2005 Thanks for responding. If we have a good experience on our first cruise I would like to do the Alaska cruise next. What is the best time of year to go?

They calm a queazy stomach and work well for me. They won't totally avoid motion sickness if you are very prone to it, but they are so safe to use. Take one before you board ship. And keep using them through the day. I even use them at home when I need to settle an upset stomach. Your deck and cabin location should suit you fine.
