Princess Excursions - Price In Foreign Currency

I'm considering the 28-day RT Hawaii, Tahiti & Somoa voyage out of LA on the Golden in April, 2014.

 

It appears that many of the excursions for the ports outside the US are shown in AUD. It is my understanding that these charges will be converted to USD when billed to the onboard account. I called Princess to learn about their exchange rates but the rep could only tell me that the process is done onboard.

 

Comments from those with experience regarding Princess exchange rates/fees for excursions priced in foreign currency will be appreciated.

The Princess exchange rates suck. Yes, they're done onboard but at a terrible rate. Avoid any Princess exchange if you can. If it were me, I'd make sure my onboard folio is in US$, get the $ at the best rate you can at home, and put the $ on your folio after boarding as a credit against the charges.
