Birthday party of the Rhapsody of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Good Morning;

My granddaughter will be celebrating her 10th birthday in (Tracey Arm, Alaska - sea day) on the Rhapsody. I would like to have a little birthday party for her that day. A get together for her and her new cruisemate friends. The temp will be in the 40's - too cold for a pool party theme.

RCCL wants me to order their decorating service for the room and a cake, to be delivered to the state room and have the party in the INSIDE CABIN we booked or upgrade to a suite for an extra $2500.

However, I want to bring invitations (coordinated through the kids club) and maybe meet in the rock climbing area, the windjammer cafe (if it is rainy or too windy or cold) or possibly the teen center. Also, I would like to decorate myself with my own themed decorations (using magnets to attach signs to doors). What do you think?

Maybe you could get together in the MDR for lunch and decorate the table, then have the cake served for dessert? I don't see them giving you use of a private room for free, especially if you want to use your own decorations.

As an FYI and unless the rules have changed, they will not allow you to hold the party in the teen center, especially considering that your granddaughter is not a teen and would not be allowed in at any time, or other AO facilities.

I'm not sure how to handle a birthday party in the public venues because you couldn't reserve any particular space. Maybe arrange for time in a lounge or other facility that is empty during the day?

Unless it is family I would not be plannig a party for new friends she "might" meet. I have taken my daughter for cruises on her birday and I would just order the decorations and a cake and then she would pick out an excursion.
