WHat cruiselines?

My son just sailed on the Inspiration for a 5 day cruise. He placed cash on his account- 100.00. (that was all) onthe lat night he got a bill that he owed 3.00 bucks.

If you are sailing carnival you will need at least 80 bucks on that card to open it for tips. 10pp per day.

We're sailing Carnival's Fascination. Do they tell us how much we need to put down for a deposit? Or do we just do it based on how much we think we'll spend?

We do plan on bringing sodas with us and I don't think we'll buy much - if any items on the ship.

I am thinking we might want to see one of the shows that they offer. Is there a covercharge for those?

Thanks!

To add to the previous questions, what if you are paying by credit card? Do they run through a certain dollar amount when you get the S&S card? I'm trying to make sure I have enough available and don't run into "daily limit" (or any other) problems.

With a regular credit card youshouldnt run into a problem. THe cruiselines do not charge the card daily. But run all the charges in through at once on the last day.

When placing cash - they dont tell you how much to put down. (although on their web page it states that a minumum amount is due.

On the Miracle we placed 400.00 for both of us. ( Used funship dollars not even money) We got back 137 bucks the last night.

Placing cash you need to visit the pursers desk sometimes within that first night.

Shows are free. Tips are put onto your account when you board. Shows are free. Casino take cash- although you can use your sign and sail card and be charged 3% service fee. If you buy any drinks, Photos, spa services these will be charged to the sign and sail account.

Tips for room service-- are cash upon delivery- room serivce itself is free.

gkr,

we were on Fascination last September. We backed our S&S card up with a credit card, so I can't help you on that score. It was a nice ship and has a lovely atrium. Make sure you get pictures sitting at the bottom of the steps, as they are some of our better pictures onboard. My hubby won $325 at the casino. We were supposed to go to Nassau, but hurricane Jeanne was there. Sorry to go on and not answer your question, but if you have any other questions about the ship, ask me!

Last year when we were on the Carnival Miracle they charged our tips out on the first or second day. (We noticed it when we went to put cash on our pass for our shore excursions.) I was surprised at this because I don't think RCI does it this way. Just be prepared.
