US passports at YVR

A rather interesting article on online edition of the Vancouver "Sun" this afternoon. Let's hope that it does have the desired effect of speeding things up at CBP for Americans returning to the US through YVR.

We used this system when returning to YUL last fall. Once we figured out what we were supposed to do, it worked beautifully.

Just off the Zuiderdam yesterday and had the opportunity to use the kiosks at YVR this morning and the procedure to about 2 minutes including answering the customs questions and having the kiosk tale my photo.

 

A stop at a CBP officer to verify photo against passport and we were done. A very simple process.

I am certain that all will be happy to hear this. Did you encounter much in the way of lines...this was a very big cruise weekend in Vancouver.

We actually spent disembarkation day in Vancouver and left the next morning around 8 am so lines were very tolerable. From bags being tagged for SFO flight by Air Canada to the time we hit Gate 84 was about 20 minutes for bag drop, security and US CBP.

Thank you very much for your input. At 0800 you are a bit ahead of the big rush of people coming directly from the ships. It now will be interesting to hear from some folks who have used the new service after say 1000.
