bola Posted May 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2013 Arriving in Anchorage around 5ish on a Friday night this summer. After a long day of traveling looking for a restaurant where we can kick back with a drink and a good meal. We are staying at the Comfort Inn ShipCreek. Need someplace that is walkable. Not sure if there would be a shuttle available for us. Is it recommended to make reservations prior to our arrival?
canuck13 Posted May 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2013 The best meal we had in Anchorage was at Glacier Brewhouse. Excellent food, esp. seafood and large choice of microbrews. Not cheap but nothing in Anchorage is. A bit of a hike, but walkable by my definition. You will not find a lot of choices within a couple of blocks of your hotel. Rez recommended on a Friday. AKStafford Posted May 13, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2013 I like the F Street Station, but it's a really small place so there may not be room.
bola Posted May 14, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted May 14, 2013 Glacier Brewhouse was one of my top choices. Any opinions on Humpy's? Reservations needed??
laughing husky Posted May 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2013 The Bridge restaurant should be open by the time you get here and it is very close to you with excellent food. All food is expensive here. It has to be shipped in from outside. We grow lots of veggies but they don't get on the table till the end of June or July. laughing husky Posted May 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2013 Humpy's is noisy especially on a weekend. They usually have rock bans playing. Good for a quick lunch...atmosphere is bar like...torn oilcloth seats etc. food is good. If you like oysters, AK has some of the best in the world...try Bubbles and Mermaid...oysters (only) and champagne....
bola Posted May 14, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted May 14, 2013 Thanks for the suggestion of the Bridge restaurant. I looked it up online & it's super close to our hotel. :) Now it's a toss up between this restaurant & the Glacier Brewhouse?!
laughing husky Posted May 15, 2013 #8 Share Posted May 15, 2013 Go to the bridge. Last year it was great, but they just serve AK seafood....and the Brewhouse serves a variety of food.....bridge has a nice atmosphere...right over Ship Creek so you can see fishermen catch salmon if the ruins on....
