jayjaycan Posted May 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2013 We are sailing on the Jade in Oct.and while viewing the specialty restaurants menus I noticed a note indicating VAT charges are added to the check in some ports of call.Does anyone have experience with this? When do the charges apply? When in port and/or territorial waters? How is the VAT determined? On the restaurant fee (i.e.Cagney's $30 per person) and any wine purchased in the venue (including the 15% gratuitie sercharge)? What if the reservations and wines are pre booked on-line,does the VAT still apply? Thanks for your response.
Cubechick Posted May 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2013 If you book online, ahead of time, you avoid the VAT. This applies to shore excursions as well.
