What does it take($$$?) to get Free Drinks, or the Drinks on Us card in the Casino??

Recommended Posts

Many many dollars.

My dad is a club member= last cruise spent over 1200 in the casino and just barely made 1000 points.

you need 1500 to get the card

Probably cheaper to buy the cheers program

If you play penny slots consistently...3-4 hrs a day. You can reach 1500 points by day 1 or 2. Just remember, chasing points could cost you a lot more than you are willing to spend. Just for a drink card that is only good in the casino while playing?? You might come out better just having fun and buying your own drinks. Being a slot junkie, I made it to 5500 on a 4 day cruise, but I wasn't going after a free drinks card. They don't offer them on cruises under 5 or 6 days. It took me about 200.00 to make it to 1500 points. That's with lots of wins and recycling the credits.

1,500 points gets you there. $2.50 coin-in on slots and $5 coin-in on video poker equals 1 point. It's important to note that coin-in doesn't equal money spent. It's possible to reach 1,500 points with $5 out-of-pocket money if you are winning/breaking even and keep playing back the winnings. It's also possible to drop $3747.50 without winning a cent and you will still be one point short at 1499.

As for table games, you have to average $20 per hand for four hours a day just to be rated. For comps, including drinks on us card, I can only guess that it is much higher(probably around $50 per hand average). The reason for this is that the house edge on games like Blackjack & Craps is much, much lower than on slots.

Soapbox time: Play for the entertainment value. If you earn some comps, that is an added bonus. If you are playing at a level that grants you some nice freebies, great, but don't extend your comfortable betting limits to try and get there.

We never gamble, but on our cruise a few weeks ago, a couple at our dinner table were big gamblers. After the first couple days, they received 2 large plates of chocolate covered strawberries in their cabin every day from the casino. They also received 2-3 bottles of wine at dinner those nights from the casino.

Does anybody know what amount of gambling it takes to receive those comps? The lady mentioned she lost $1,000 the first night. They never mentioned other amounts. DH and I were just curious. Another couple at our table also spent a lot of time in the casino but said they don't spend a lot. They didn't receive anything and also wondered.

I received a bottle of wine on Thursday night. At this point I was around 3500 in points from slots.

I ended the week with around 5200 points. For my next cruise I have $50 in cash and the drinks on us card. My net loss for the week was around $600. I had some decent slot wins I plowed right back into the machines.

Unless you're spending a LOT at the tables, playing the slots is the easiest way to get those comps. And it's not necessarily how much cash you actually spend, but how much you cycle through the machines.

It depends on the machine and how well it's playing. As long as it's keeping you going, even penny machines with a little payout can get you the card the first night. I usually have pretty good luck and get mine the first, sometimes second day.

On a 5-6 day cruise you need 1,000 points.

On a 7+ day cruise you need 1,500 points.

Far easier for slots players they like the odds in their favor.

Heck I can win or lose 1k in 30 minutes on a table and might get a drink or two.

Sometimes I get a casino offer and sometimes I don't and I certainly pass 10-20k a cruise.

But my friends who play 100-200 a night on slots always seem to get the card.

Thank god for Vegas and free trips to Atlantis.

What is the US card? Is it an actual card that gives you free drinks for the rest of the cruise?

The "On Us" card is a card you receive in the Casino once you reach a certain number of points (think of the points you receive at a land-based casino for play). For a 7+ day you must receive 1,500 points, for 5-6 days, you must receive 1,000 points.

It IS an actual card they give you. It will be dated from the date you earn it until the end of the cruise. They will often times attach it to your Sail and Sign card, or just give it to you. It enables you to free order drinks for yourself while you play in the casino.

Not always true. Sailed Fascination 2 times last year. Needed 900 points in May (5 night), but not available in October (5 nights), regardless of points.
