hayesktrm Posted June 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2013 Is this a term of affection?
firefly333 Posted June 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2013 Because thats what he answers to, and if he is known as Uncle Bob and answers to that name .. works for me. Besides if we called him Bob .. no one would probably know who we meant.. but Uncle Bob.. ah ha.. everyone knows who you mean. Hes like your favorite uncle who indulges people and makes them feel special.
xbatt8 Posted June 13, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 13, 2013 Interesting. I am known by most as Uncle Bob also. Both young and old tend to call me that. Even when I do karaoke on the ship I sign up as Uncle Bob. Bob (tho I obviously don't sign things that way) :)
hayesktrm Posted June 13, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted June 13, 2013 Okay, so he was much loved and Cahill is not. I wasn't sure if he was the "crazy" uncle or much loved uncle. Anyone know about profitability under Uncle Bob? Did he leave by choice? It seems like Cahill has cut costs, but in the long run he's going to make the company less profitable. The4Cruisers Posted June 13, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 13, 2013 You may also see people reference him as UB in these forums. Took me a while to realize that back in the day. :D
SCOT Posted June 13, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 13, 2013 I started calling him Uncle Bob back when we cruise with his nephew back in1995. And yes it was the fun ship
babyher Posted June 13, 2013 #7 Share Posted June 13, 2013 Harry Truman used to refer to Stalin as "Uncle Joe" . So Term of Endearment" is a subjective thing.
