Silhouette & Freedom

Recommended Posts

We will be arriving in Ft Lauderdale on the Silhouette on Dec 15 from a TA. Our plans are to do self embarkation, get rental car at the port and drive to Port Canaveral to board the Freedom also sailing on Dec 15th. Any advice or suggestions to accomplish this with minimal stress? Thanks

I'm not sure that I could do this without stress. Often times disembarkation is delayed after a ship returns from Europe and the Silhouette is usslly one of the last to come into port. The easiest way to get a rental car is to take a taxi to the airport. It's about 200 miles and about 3 hours driving if everything goes well. So, if you are lucky enough to clear customs by 8:30 am add 30 minutes to get the rental car 3 hours to drive to Port Canaveral and another 30 minutes to return the rental car and get to the port. It's 12:30 pm if everything goes well with no stops along the trip. Getting to Port Canaveral at 12:30 isn't my idea of a stress free trip. If you want to take another trip I would suggest that you find a cruise from Miami or Fort Lauderdale.
