Karysa Posted June 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2013 DS & DBIL are thinking about vacationing in Orient Village. Where do people go after the beach bars close? Are there restaurants within walking distance, bars, nightclubs, casinos ? Just not that familiar with the Orient area so I thought I'd ask those that are for some help. Thanks!:)
gtaylor Posted June 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2013 Where do you eat at Orient after the sun goes down? Back in your room with full kitchen facilities? :) We are rarely on that side of the island for an evening meal, so have limited information to share, BUT, one time when we were there in the afternoon in search of a baguette we were directed to Tap 5 in The Village. They offered a selection of takeaway food including some very nice looking pizza. That said, if they are familiar with driving on the island, then besides Grand Case, which I know you are familiar with, French Quarter/Orleans isn't too far away and I would highly recommend Yvette's for lunch and/or dinner, and Poulet d' Orleans (which we haven't visited yet) for dinner. gary p.s. Yvette's can be difficult to find at night, so I would recommend a dry run during the day to determine the location.

I am a little surprised that Orient Village doesn't have more night life. I have been recommending Grand Case or Simpson Bay for them to stay at. Spurs Fans Posted June 19, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2013 We stayed in Orient Village a couple of years ago. There was a very good pizza place across from the store. The store also had a good selection of food items including pizza and fresh sandwiches as well.

They plan on visiting Pinel Island Anguila and other beaches on the island as well as Philipsburg and Marigot during the day and Grand Case some evenings for dinner. I think they like the option of visiting the c/o part of Orient. Maybe because thats not the draw of St. Maarten to DH or myself we just don't think that Orient is the best location for a land vacation compared to Grand Case or Simpson Bay. Spurs Fans Posted June 20, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 20, 2013 Would definitely recommend it. We rented a house for a week above Orient Beach. The beach was within easy walking distance and, with the French store, couple of restaurants in addition to those on the beach, liquor store and cigar store, you have everything you need for an enjoyable trip!
