scoob2010 Posted June 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2013 I was found this article about cruise ship Wifi which ends with a word that the Oasis should be getting an updated Wifi connections promising broadband connections by the end of June... http://www.relax.com.sg/relax/news/1821396/Cruise_ships_broaden_their_Wi_Fi_horizons.html I had thought RCI was going to make some updates next year. Anyone else have more confirmation or better yet- word it is already been done?

publicpersona Posted June 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 22, 2013 promising broadband connections by the end of June... I'm skeptical. It may very well be that the network speed on the ship is as they claim .. even gigabit. But this has nothing to do with the perceived speed of the "Internet". It would be mostly of benefit between two points on the ship. In other words, I've got gigabit speed at home, but my connection to the Internet is 20-30 megabits/sec. It might be faster than it is now, but as Admiral Grace Hopper once said, "There's too many of these [holding of one of her nanoseconds]" between the ship and the satellite.
