Cabin above the casino...noisy?

We're going on the Splendor on July 20th and we have 2 connecting cabins on deck 6, right above the casino. For those with experience staying on this deck (or above the casino in general), does it get very noisy at night? The only other time I was near a casino on a ship was in 1990 on Royal Caribbean's Nordic Prince (I was only 13 at the time) and our cabin was right below the casino...there was no noise from the casino at all and I'm hoping this will be the same.

It's a calculated risk, but I'd bet that you'll be just fine. The only problem might be if you're above the casino stage, where they sometimes have live music, that gets a big noisy. Chances of the "regular casino" noise filtering up to you are slim, IMO. ;)

Have a GREAT cruise, and don't worry about the cabin.

We had a cabin above the casino on the Conquest a few years ago. Noise from people in the casino was not a problem. Noise from the band definitely was. It was quite loud. Don't remember our cabin number but we were close to being above the stage area. Hopefully it's better further away.

We were on the Carnival Pride several years ago and had two cabins just slightly beyond the entrance to the casino on Deck 6. If I had been aware of the one man band who could not sing, just yell and played till all hours of the night (at least 3 am), I would have changed cabins before I cruised. It was horrible. Talk about wanting to jump ship. Carnival credited us $150 per cabin, but never never again. I will always be sandwiched between two cabins. Now I do a lot of research before I select my cabin.

So you were on the same deck as the casino? We are not on the same level, but we are on the deck right above, and our cabin is right above the casino.

On one cruise with NCL in 2002, we were on the Norwegian Sea (smaller ship) and out cabin ended up being a few doors down from the kids' camp. This was before we had kids, but I would still not stay near the kids' camp with all the noise going on during the day and even sometimes late at night for kids that were there for late night hours. Since then I make sure we are not close to the kids' area although on the newer ships I don't see many cabins that are too close by.

My original cabin on The Victory (which I am sailing on in 2 weeks) was right above the casino. I called Carnival regarding something else entirely, but decided to ask customer service about my cabin just in case (I booked online). She told me that I would most likely hear noise from the casino and could chose a different cabin in my category at no charge. Thank goodness I asked!!!!

Sorry I was not very clear... Yes we were above the Casino. It was very noisy, only because of the placement of our cabin and the stage for the one man band in the casino below.

I think it depends on where you are above the casino.

If you are above a remote portion of the casino, where there are just little old ladies playing penny slots, there may not be much noise.

However, if you are above the band (typically they are close to the entrance to the casino, or the passageway beside the casino), you may be in for a LOT of noise. The bands that I have heard typically play loud, and they play long into the night. Their goal is to get people excited and pumped up, so they don't play lullabyes (grin).

My personal rule of thumb is to, where possible, always have a cabin above me and a cabin below me. That way, you only have the occasional bed squeaks to deal with...

Hi:)

We stayed on deck 7 just recently; when we cruise we always sandwich ourselves

between cabin decks above & below. Friends of ours were on deck 6 and

had no issues with casino noise or from the band stage within the casino.

However, they were on the port side, the band stage in the casino is on the starboard side,

against the window. My best educated guess is that the stage is directly

under balcony cabins 6347, 6351 & 6355, in regards to possibly hearing a band playing.

It may also be possible to hear music in the interior cabins nearby as well; near cabins 6349, 6353 & 6357.

Where is your cabin located?

:)

We're in inside connecting cabins, 6295 & 6297 I think. There are very few of them. We're in the middle.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just got off the Freedom 6-dayer and was in cabin 6375... right above the Casino Stage. Bands played every night from 5pm to almost mid-nite. I had NO idea there was a band below our cabin else I would have changed it. We could not rest at all during that period. It was so bad when a Latina band was playing that I could not take it anymore and complained. It was like the band was in the room and the lead singer was screaming in my ear. I had two pillows under my head and could still FEEL the band.

How did you go about getting the credit? I am going to send an email to Carnival. I booked through them in Match for a July cruise and they gave no indication that my balcony cabin was directly over the Casino Band. It was awful and I can still hear that Latino Band playing.

Generally above the Casino is no problem. But, if you're above the band in the Casino, then it will be a problem.

This happened to us on the Glory. It was like the guy was in our cabin it was so loud.

Since then, we always have a 'deck of insulation' between us and Promenade.

Hopefully your cabin will not be near the band. If it is, then do like we did, just stay out till 1 or so!

Not sure where the band is, but you are definitely over the casino. We booked a last minute cruise on the Carnival Glory several years ago, all of us choosing inside guarantee, which was all that was left. We all ended up on deck 6, our cabin was right above the disco with loud thumping music until 3 am each morning. Our friends ended up over the casino and their cabin always smelled like cigarette smoke. They also complained of a little noise. That was the last guarantee cabin we ever booked. We always choose our cabins now, making sure we have cabins above and below. If I were you, I would try and change my cabin.
