DEELOUX Posted June 25, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2005 Our family is traveling in Aug and just heard that they changed to schedule. We heard you no longer arrive in Nassau at 7am until 2pm now you arrive at 8pm and leave the next morning at 11:30. Has anyone else heard of this? If so, when did you go to the beach. Thanks for all your info.

Thanks for all your info. Your itinerary was the traditional itinerary. The change back will start the first cruise in July and has been posted for months and available to all. If they have a TA they should have been told. It does show the change day five: 5 Nassau, Bahamas 7:00am 2:00pm This link has all the different 7 day itineraries for the Dawn http://www.ncl.com/itinerary/it_bahafla.htm
MsAmelia Posted June 25, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2005 Prior to the July 3 sailing..GSC was from 7 am to 4 pm with arrival in Nassau 4 hours later at 8 pm to midnight. How come after this sailing it will leave GSC at 6 pm and not arrive in Nassau until 7 am, 11 hours later. Where will we be going or doing that is so different? Just floating about!!! Any idea? Maybe if tips are given to the right person, they may put their foot down and arrive early. Or maybe those in Concierge service will be able to get them to arrange that too!

brooklynphil Posted June 26, 2005 #9 Share Posted June 26, 2005 I'm going on August 7th. I hope they keep the schedule of Thursday Great Stirup Cay until 6:00pm and Friday Bahamas from 7:00am until 2:00pm. But I'm sure they will keep the schedule of the past few months because they can't make it back to N ew York at 8:00am on Sunday if they don't leave the Bahamas at 12:00 noon. TITISSA Posted June 26, 2005 #10 Share Posted June 26, 2005 We are booked on the Dawn for August 14, 2005. Do you know what time we arrive in Nassau? Is it 7:00 am or is it 8:00 pm? I need to know for sure because I made reservation for Swim with the Dolphins for 8:30 am. If arrival time is at night I have to cancel the dolphins pretty fast. Thanks!
cantwaitt Posted June 26, 2005 #11 Share Posted June 26, 2005 If your Dolphins res is for 8:30 a.m., you're better off arriving at 8 the night before. In any case, the schedule the entire summer is the one posted above: arrive Nassau at 8 p.m. and leave at noon the next day. Doesn't leave much time for Nassau, especially if you are not an early riser.

It would not be the first time the Web showed one thing and a rep said another. We will know the real answer in a couple of weeks since the 7/3 cruise is the first one planned to return to the old itinerary  New York, NY- 4:00pm 1 At sea - - 2 Orlando (Port Canaveral), Florida 9:00am 8:00pm 3 Miami, Florida 9:00am 6:00pm 4 Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas 8:00am 6:00pm 5 Nassau, Bahamas 7:00am 2:00pm 6 At sea - - 7 New York, NY 10:00am* -
TITISSA Posted June 26, 2005 #13 Share Posted June 26, 2005 I called NCL and checked the web site for my cruise on August 14. The schedule now reads as follows: NY departure 4:00 pm at sea Pt Canaveral arrive 10:00 am departure 9:00 pm Miami arrive 9:00 am departure 6:00pm GSC arrive 7:00 am departure 4:00 pm Nassau arrive 8:00 pm departure next day at 12:00 noon at sea NY arrive 10:00 am How can it take so long to cruise from GSC to Nassau if one is "next door" to the other? Are we saving on fuel and floating with the tides? I had to cancel our Swim with the Dolphin excursion in Nassau because it would be cutting too close having to be back on board by 11:30. shoreguy Posted June 26, 2005 #14 Share Posted June 26, 2005 TITISSA Where on the website did you see that itinerary for your cruise. Everywhere I look it still shows GSC till 6 pm and arrival in Nassau the next morning at 7 am  Makes no difference to me but sure makes things confusing for many others. That itinerary is still posted for 2005: May 15, 22, 29; Jun 5, 12, 19, 26 http://www.ncl.com/itinerary/it_bahafla.htm#

cinderella7104 Posted June 26, 2005 #18 Share Posted June 26, 2005 Hi, My family and I are on the Aug 14th sailing too and this iternary change is disappointing. We were looking forward to spending the day in Nassau shopping and exploring Atlantis but now we have to rearrange our plans. I read somewhere that mst shops close by 9pm and the straw market at 6. Does anyone know if the shops have changed their hours for the dawns docking? Heather

Isn't the web wonderful  As always hard to get a correct answer online. The need to pay the jr. high kids that run the site a little more :D July 3rd will tell the story. I expect they will stay with the current overnight. It has worked well and prevented long waits/late departures in NYC. Those 2 hours seem to make a big difference. Polish Falcon Posted June 26, 2005 #20 Share Posted June 26, 2005 This is exactly what makes me nervous about NCL!! We are booked for 11/27/05 Spirit. Guests cannot seem to get a straight or correct answer to very simple questions. Yes, I know all about the cruise contract and how ports and times may vary etc. etc. but - what is the plan before hurricanes or engine breakdowns? Surely they must know! Does Nassau have a dependable ship schedule calendar??
IKE Posted June 26, 2005 #21 Share Posted June 26, 2005 When I read itinerary changes on Dawn, I thought maybe they would be doing some Caribbean Ports. I personally feel their current itinerary is boring and was hoping the Ship will do some Caribbean Ports. Have visited Miami and other cities along the eastern seacoast. We are about 35 people and NCL has provided a place for us to meet on Sunday at 10:30 am. Refreshments will be served and the Cruise Director and Captain (I'll believe it when I see him) and other crew members will introduce themselves. We have a good roll call going on and would love to have you join us. I'm disappointed with the arrival at Nassau. Leticia.
cinderella7104 Posted June 26, 2005 #23 Share Posted June 26, 2005 Hi Titissa, Thanks for the invite to the get together onboard. I'll def. be there with my wacky family...lol. Please let me know the meeting place. Im keeping my fingers crossed that NCL changes their minds and stays in Nassau a little longer. Are you doing any shore excursions thru NCL? tony@stanton19.freeserve. Posted June 27, 2005 #24 Share Posted June 27, 2005 Is dock space the problem in Nassau ? I can only assume that as the relative positions of GSC and Nassau stays the same (ditto Nassau and NYC) MS Norwegian Dawn's maximum cruising speed remains as per ship's specification NCL's desire to keep you on ship for maximum spend factor does not change seasonally. Presumably the only other factor that can change is that the ship's berth is not available overnight on the dates we are sailing Personally I think that NCL don't give a hoot what happens in their non US port of call, to them it is merely a requirement of the Jones Act and they don't really care whether you are ashore for ten minutes or not. The same thing happens on Alaska cuises out of Seattle. We were in Victoria BC for four hours, 8pm till midnight:eek: The only downside for them is that they lose the comission on shorex's sold. I would imagine that given the limited time allowed on Nassau, most people grab a cab and do their own thing. Ergo, NCL lose nothing!!! Personally I don't really care it's a rubbish time allocation anyway, no time for anything.

Heather Hi Heather, I was on the Dawn recently (6/5) and had this itinerary (arriving Nassau at 8 pm departing at noon the next day). Many shops were open until 10 pm for Dawn pax to shop. The port consultant will provide a hand-out with a map of the shops that will be open. Have fun!
