G85 SS Posted February 21, 2014 #126 Share Posted February 21, 2014 The deals will boost Brevard County’s seaport in its effort to become the world’s busiest, based on the number of cruise passengers, ahead of the Port of Miami and Port Everglades near Fort Lauderdale. Royal Caribbean will get preferred scheduling at the 188,514-square-foot Cruise Terminal 1, which is being designed to accommodate the world’s largest cruise ships. But other cruise lines also will use the terminal, Walsh said. Music to my ears. Coupled with the artist rendering that came out depicting an Oasis Class at this port, we are getting closer to possibly finding out which one will call it home. So far, Allure is not showing anything past it's Transatlantic from Barcelona, Spain back to Fort Lauderdale in October of 2015. Oasis of the Seas shows nothing past the Halloween Eastern Caribbean cruise in 2015 from Fort Lauderdale. Judging by the current scheduling of both ships, it's more and more likely Port Canaveral will not see an Oasis Class until Oasis III hits the seas. Which is starting to beg the question, will Port Canaveral see a brand spankin' new ship from the ship yard? With all the attention and proposed growth to become the worlds busiest port, I don't think it's out of the question anymore.
Wildcatfish Posted February 22, 2014 #127 Share Posted February 22, 2014 Royal Caribbean currently has two ships based at Port Canaveral, and will base a third ship here starting in November for 26 voyages. FLORIDA TODAY . It sounds like the third ship might be seasonal if it is only doing 26 voyages, starting in November. Possibly the November - April season? Tall-Cruiser Posted February 22, 2014 Author #128 Share Posted February 22, 2014 It sounds like the third ship might be seasonal if it is only doing 26 voyages, starting in November. Possibly the November - April season? That third ship will be Explorer (already announced) for the first season. Then she goes into dry dock and speculation is onto Asia after that. The new schedules also shows Adventure doing a Transatlantic from Europe to PC. So far there are no announcements as to were Adventure will sail to from PC.
