yojimbo Posted June 26, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2005 The QM2 casino is quite smoky, as compared to most of the land-base casinos I have visited. Can't comment on the slots, since I play table games.
elaine61 Posted June 26, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2005 Hi Grace Can't comment on the casino on board QM2, but the other cruise lines I go on do tend to be on the smokey side. I was having a conversation one evening with a friend whilst Tom was playing blackjack and all I said was it was very smoky and a lady with a cigarette in front of me, turned round and said that if I didn't like smoking I shouldn't be in the casino. Not that I am the petty type but I asked her then if she was implying that non smokers shouldn't gamble!! Anyway, casino's for some unknown reason to me do tend to attract smokers. Of course this is at a table playing black jack. I don't know what it's like at the tables. It certainly doesn't put me off playing. We only gamble on our cruises. Haven't been to a casino here, but then not sure where the nearest one is!! BTW, we have apparently sorted out the kids cabin. Not sure it's satisfactory. After all the hassle and aggravation this past week, they have ended up in the D4 cabin on the opposite side of their original cabin. It does back onto the atrium lifts so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will not be kept awake by the elevator noise. When I mentioned about the possibility of the lifts making a noise, the guy on the other end said that the ship makes some noise itself (I know what he means, it has like a hum to it but talk about insulting my intelligence. He must have thought we'd never cruised before). I am not really one of these compensation culture freaks who goes for anything for nothing (I mean, I declined an upgrade for the kids from D4 to a D2 on deck 12 and from a B4 to a B1 for us)!! But I feel their whole attitude regarding this situation was bad. They did this in March, but my agent only found out because they are upgrading their computer system to the princess booking system and she is getting all new paperwork in. Had we been told back in March that they had taken cabin 5110 off sale (which I am still sceptical about, I don't believe their explanation, but we shall see) we may have had less trouble finding the kids a cabin for the whole trip. They won't have to move out of this new cabin from one cruise to the next now so that's a relief. Means more time to explore and shop in NYC! Anthing else? Thanks....Grace When I was on last year, It got quite smoky in there!!....Usually during the more busy times like the evenings. I thought the pay off was pretty good. I was able to play for a while, always hitting a little bit more...but of course a loser in the long run. I played the nickel and quarter machines and they both did equally well. A couple of the people with us hit a few of the larger jackpots to keep them playing for a few days. Brad
imacruizer Posted June 27, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 27, 2005 Hi Brad, Saw your post and remembered you from our March 2004 QM2 cruise. Hope you are doing well. Have you seen the ship board credits offered for those who sailed on the QM2 in 2004 on some of the future QM2 cruises? Check it out. We sailed for a second time in January 2005 and enjoyed it as much or more than the first time. The new ship board credits make us want to book again. imacruizer Posted June 27, 2005 #7 Share Posted June 27, 2005 Brad, I'm not sure there has been a thread on this. We got a card in the mail. I would call your TA or Cunard if you booked directly with them and see if your cruise on Saturday qualifies. If not you will just have to book another cruise!! According to the card we received you have until August 31 to book your cruise and receive the shipboard credits. Enjoy your cruise. Beth
