Tandem Skydiving at Skydive Hawaii

I'm not a skydiver (but have done 2 tandem jumps), but my husband is. Each time we do a Hawaiian land vacation we try to include time on the North Shore so he can jump.

He has not jumped at this particular company, but all the drop zones are located in the same place and are very similar. For the most part, a tandem skydive in Hawaii is cheaper than the mainland and much cheaper than Japan. For this reason the majority of tandem jumpers are Japanese.

When selecting a company to jump with keep a few things in mind. Don't just check to see who has the cheapest price. You want to do a skydive that will take you to 13,000 ft. This jump has twice the freefall time (about 1 minute) compared to a jump from 9,000 ft (about 30 seconds). The added time is really important.

Sometimes the type of plane used affects the price, but for a one time jumper this is not that important. A bigger plane will get you to altitude faster than a smaller plane. This is important if you want to do several jumps in a day, but not so important for just one tandem. In fact you may want the smaller plane to enjoy the additional time spent getting to altitude.

Spend the extra money to get photos or a video. You will have as much fun showing your friends the pictures as you do making the jump.

I think all the companies in this area are about the same as far as safety is concerned. Any one would be a good choice. Keep in mind that most tandem jumps are early in the day. This might be an issue if you have limited time due to a cruise schedule.

Have fun if you decide to make a jump.
