Anyone been on the Sensation?

thanks marshhawk. I am going to get a deck plan and look at those. It is usually darker under the bridge if there is place to get to, but we will certainly look at the deck above. Yes we like outdoorsy stuff, stars, fish, swimming at night.. We always watch for dolphins off the front of the ships leaving the harbors and nearly always see them out of port canaveral.. Now we have to hope for clear skies!

Definitely the front of the ship. It's the only place that does not have lighting. We went on her last year, it's a great ship. Navigating around the Fantasy class ships can be a pain though, so wear comfortable shoes.

Does anyone know of a nice dark place to see the stars? We are on the August 11 sailing during the meteor shower (Aug 11-12-13) specifically to try to see shooting stars from sea. We have not been on the Sensation so we will have to look for a place to sit during the night. Anybody got an ideas? Thanks

That's the sailing we're on. Thanks for the information, it would be great to see shooting stars at sea.

Anyone been on sensation, what was your review?

I've cruised on Sensation before; it was my second cruise. I had an awesome time: in Freeport, in Nassau, and on the ship. I met a lot of fun people, and enjoyed the shows and the food. The decor was very heavy on the purple, but I managed. Hey, if the decor is the only thing that bothers me on a cruise, it's still a good cruise. I can't say where the person who mentioned the steakhouse got the idea from, but there is no steakhouse onboard. The only eatery other than the buffet and the MDR is the Taste Bar.

I could tell you more, but it's more fun to show you, especially since you said you wanted a review. It's in my signature; just click on the Sensation link. There are quite a few photos, along with some commentary.

We love the Sensation, always had a great cruise experience on this ship. There is a very nice Serenity deck aft with a huge bar and we spent a lot of time there. Also, on the open Lido deck mid-ship between the Grill and Wok is the carving station and they also have great rotisserie chicken here. If you're lucky enough to have Wee Jimmy as your CD, you're in for lots of laughs.

I have sailed on the Sensation a couple of times. Like someone else said, it is an older and smaller ship, but I kind of like that. It's easy to navigate and it was super clean. Seemed like there was always someone cleaning something everywhere you went. We had no problems with the food or service. I also did a review and this is the link (if I did it right!). http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1475569

I think you will have a great time on the Sensation. :)

All I can say is, a cruise is what you make of it. I have never had a problem on any ship. This is a smaller ship, but that makes it easy to navigate. Although I think finding your way around is part of the fun any how! The $1.00 Wheel of Fortune in the Casino really paid well, not only for my husband but for another young man on the cruise. The staff is wonderful as always. I never got to try the pasta station on the last trip, but heard many great reviews and considering how many people were waiting to eat there, I imagine it was great. The steak house was a real treat, extra but well worth it. There was a Mardi Gras themed part in the Atrium bar one night that was a riot, beads and all! As for deck chairs I never had a problem getting one. Either way, keep an open mind and make your own opinions! I hope you enjoy the Sensation as I have.

Sorry, The great steak house memory was from the Dream in November!

  • 2 weeks later...

This ship is starting to become my second home away from home. This will be the third time I've been on her, I enjoy this class of ship. Yes they don't do the week or longer trips but I don't feel crowded on them.

I've been lurking on the boards to see what people thought of the Sensation. My DH and I are looking to book her last minute for the end of August for a quick get away. Looks like everyone has positives to say about her. Thank you for letting me lurk and your honest opinions. To the OP sounds like you should go for it!

We sailed her and had a great time we did the one that went to Freeport and then a Nassau. But on Nassau we arrived at 8Am and denature was @ midnight so you had a chance to do the beach or snorkeling or what ever during the day And for a chance to see it at night. It's a great 3 or 4 day cruise. Especially for the price. I would donor again.
