Kingg02 Posted October 16, 2013 #101 Share Posted October 16, 2013 Thanks so much for the great pictures and review! I just joined cruise critic today. I'll be sailing on the Magic on October 27th with husband and another couple (my platinum cruise on Carnival)! I'm so glad to hear that there are still laundry facilities available. Your details were great and the ship did not look very crowded at all in your photos. I can't wait for our trip in 12 days!

Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #108 Share Posted May 22, 2014 I want to apologize to ANYONE who read this previously and got frustrated at me for not being able to return to it. I ended up breaking my wrist at work shortly after I posted the last entry... and was in a cast for months!! Couldn't really type well, and I was so uninterested in doing really anything cause of the pain. I've been off of work for 4 months, and my wrist is finally starting to feel better so I can type. I'm so so so so sorry!! So, if anyone is still interested... Here we go. When I left off, it was the Fourth of July and time for Belize. They had the lobby decorated with the American flag... nice touch! We went and glanced at the shops to see if they were open... They had a lot of tender ships coming to get people off the ship. Unfortunately, as I was still feeling sick from having bronchitis... we stayed on the ship and I rested for the most part. We did go play trivia after eating a quick sandwich at the deli, but they didn't have too many activities to do. It looked like a lot of people were coming back to the ship early, and many were just sitting around. After mom did some laundry, we went to go get ready for our night at the steakhouse. Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #109 Share Posted May 22, 2014 The chef sent out little samplers, which I didn't eat... because I'm so unadventurous with my food choices. haha. Both my mom and dad really liked the chef's samplers... and we were all pretty excited for our entrees. They brought out the rosemary bread, with butter/different spreads. Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #110 Share Posted May 22, 2014 Both mom and dad ordered the crab cakes, which were delicious! I ordered the french onion soup, which was pretty good and helped my coughing stop for a while. Caesar salad. Dad ordered the ribeye. I have to say the plating they do at the steakhouse is really beautiful! Side of mashed potatoes:
Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #111 Share Posted May 22, 2014 Mom ordered the lobster. (Side note, I love this plate!!) Side order of a baked potato: I ordered the prime rib, but for some reason didn't take a picture of it. Dessert orders were taken, and were brought out pretty quickly... The chocolate sampler (soooo good!) Fruit:
Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #112 Share Posted May 22, 2014 When we exited the steakhouse, it was still light outside and there was a random island that looked like someone lived on it. (Must be nice  ) We went back to the room, and changed into more casual clothes... and headed to the theater to watch the show. We played a quick game of bingo, and mom ordered a drink. After the show, we went up to the lido deck for the Fourth of July party. They handed out some crazy red, white, and blue headbands... and everyone started dancing. After some of the dancing, they had a buffet with bbq chicken and side dishes. The buffet was packed, and I was still feeling sick so we went back to the room after eating and went to bed! Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #114 Share Posted May 22, 2014 We woke up kind of early the next morning and arrived in Cozumel (one of my favorite ports). We went up to the lido deck to get breakfast, and they had towel animals in every chair... it was adorable! They even had an animal floating in the pool (perfect touch!) We ate our breakfast, and decided to get off the ship and go shopping. Originally we had booked the Jose Cuervo tour, but I wasn't feeling like being stuck on an excursion. Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #115 Share Posted May 22, 2014 The Conquest was also docked... Excursions were leaving port, and the shopping center wasn't too busy. We stopped at Cariloha, and looked into getting some bamboo sheets. The salesman gave me a 10% off card, and we told him we would come back later. Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #116 Share Posted May 22, 2014 They had a drug store that sold toiletries and some prescription medicines that you could purchase... We stopped in the liquor store, and they offered tequila samples. Since I had taken my cough syrup that morning and couldn't drink... I asked my mom to sample some for me. She hates tequila, but she agreed. I purchased 4 bottles, and we continued shopping. The shop we went to is on the right: We were getting hungry, so we decided to head back to the restaurants by the pier to grab some lunch. Once we sat down, I wasn't really feeling it so we went back on the ship. Once through security, I surrendered my tequila :( and we went up to the lido deck to eat. Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #117 Share Posted May 22, 2014 After lunch, we went back to the room to drop off our purchases and decided to go back out to look around some more. It was pretty hot, so we changed into cooler clothes before getting off of the ship. While we were there, we visited the leather store, and some clothing stores. Bought a few souvenirs, and I decided to buy 2 more bottles of patron. :p

Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #119 Share Posted May 22, 2014 In the dock area, they had a Fat Tuesday's and a little area with some props to take pictures in. It was getting close to time to get back on the ship, so we called it a day in Cozumel and went back up to our room. They had a huge group of people walk down the pier to get back on the ship, and the line piled up quickly. The pilot boat was ready to escort us out, and after a short wait on some stragglers we were on our way.
Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #120 Share Posted May 22, 2014 After we rested for an hour or so, it was time for the past guest party. We arrived kind of early, and were seated at a table. Usually they do this party in the main theater, but for some reason it was in a lounge on this ship. The lounge was PACKED, and people were standing everywhere. They passed out two types of appetizers, and the one I received was not so good. Dad liked it, but I'm just not a fan of tomatoes! Mom got a Funship Special Dad and I got the non-alcoholic version; They had the band play, and people danced. Then they introduced the officers, and played the same cruise ship video they always show... After the party, we went back up to the room to get ready for dinner. Mom went out on the balcony and shot some pictures of the ocean. Once we arrived at dinner, I was so tired from having bronchitis and coughing for weeks at this point... that I wasn't in the mood to sit all dinner. I ordered the chicken noodle soup to maybe help soothe my throat, and it definitely helped! I wish I could've ordered a huge bowl of the stuff! Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #121 Share Posted May 22, 2014 More appetizers: My favorite appetizer ever!!: Entrees: After we ate our entrees, our desserts took FOREVER to arrive... I started coughing more and more, and realized my cough medicine the doctor had given me was wearing off. (And before anyone starts to question why on earth I was on a cruise sick... I went to the doctor 3 times before the cruise, and was medically cleared to go... I just could not get rid of my cough, which made me feel horrible) I took a few bites of my dessert, and started coughing like crazy. I excused myself, and hurried to the restroom. I decided I needed to go lay down, and went back to the room. Later that night, they had a deck party. They were supposed to have a Mexican Buffet, that they advertised all day... but because of the Fourth of July buffet it was cancelled. People were not happy at all, and the party cleared out quickly. After sitting on the deck for a little bit, mom and I went back to the room and went to bed. Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #122 Share Posted May 22, 2014 The last day of our cruise was finally here... and as sad as I was to see it end, I was kind of relieved because I was tired of feeling bad. We got dressed, and decided to go to the MDR for the Punchliner Brunch. The comedian read his same act as he did days prior, and no one really paid attention... I got the eggs benedict, which was good, but not as good as on previous cruises. and the banana cream pie (seriously, this was one of the best desserts on the entire cruise... everyone should try it!!) After eating brunch, we went shopping in the Fun shops and purchased a few souvenirs. There weren't too many activities going on, so we went and played some slot machines in the casino. After losing some money, we went to the Red Frog Pub so that mom could try their coconut shrimp. They had a musician in the Pub, and every seat was taken... so after mom finished her beer and shrimp we went up to the lido deck to see what was happening. I grabbed a ham and cheese sandwich from the deli, and then went to watch some karaoke. A little after this, we went to the final art auction (which lasted FOREVER, and of course we had to stay so mom could by some Fanch Ledon prints...) After relaxing and enjoying our day at sea, it was time to get ready for dinner. Our appetizers came out very quickly... Prime Rib: Fried Chicken:
Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #123 Share Posted May 22, 2014 I guess I started getting bored... haha Diet apple pie: (mom said it was disgusting, and to avoid it) WCMC After dinner, we went to the Legends show... and then back to our room to pack. After packing, they had karaoke going on in one of the lounges so we went and stayed for a little while.
Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 Author #124 Share Posted May 22, 2014 The next morning, we had arrived back in Galveston. We took showers/got ready, and gathered our belongings... then went to eat a quick breakfast. It was VERY early, and most cruisers looked exhausted. After breakfast, we went to the theater and waited for our debarkation number to be called. Once off the ship, we hired a porter and waited to go through customs. I told the customs man about the tequila I had purchased, and he asked me a few questions to verify my age before letting my family go. We took the shuttle back to our car, and drove the 4 hours back to Baton Rouge. Overall, it was a nice cruise and everyone had fun. However, many of our plans were ruined by my bronchitis. If you don't plan excursions, the ports are still nice to go walk around and do some shopping/drinking. We are going on the Dream next Sunday to the same ports, and this time I hope I get to go to the beach!! We also booked the Jose Cuervo excursion... so I'm super excited! Thank you to everyone who read this, and once again I apologize for the LONG delay in my report. (I promise I'll try not to break my arm in the middle of the next trip report...) :p
