purchasing a cruise at port

Has anyone ever purchased a cruise the day of departure at the port? Can you get a good deal or is it not worth it? I'm looking for any kind of info on your experiences. Thanks!

Since 9-11 I do not believe you can purchase a cruise at port anymore. The cruiselines have to have their manifest into the government I believe at least 48 hours before sailing. Also, at one point the cruiselines had stopped giving really good deals at the port and were charging brochure rate for the cruises.

I believe the manifest must be set 72 hours ahead.

Manifest must be in 72 hours ahead therefore no dock sales can be done anymore.
