Passport - other parent's consent

So, I have a nasty ex-husband. Back in May, I gave him the consent form to sign and get notarized for my son's passport because I couldn't get him to commit to coming to the post office to do the application with me. After a big drama-filled battle where he held it over my head, he ultimately gave the form to me. (Burned by cigarrette smoke in the corner, mind you). Then I had to beg him several times to get a copy of his driver's license, even though it's on the form.

I thought I was careful and sent it in a few weeks ago. Well, low and behold, I got a note today that my son's passport wasn't approved - his notary didn't dated the darned form, so I have to get a new one signed by him.

UGH...so frustrated I want to scream!

Looking on the bright side, you still have a couple of months to sort it out. Did you also get a notarized letter stating that you have his permission to take your son out of the country?

I hadn't done that yet, but since I have to make him get this consent signed now, I am bringing that letter with me today too. Two birds with one stone...
