SUV Rental in Philipsburg, St Maarten

I have read a few posts with good recommendations for renting a quality ATV from:

Most of the posts a a few years old--is this still a good option? We are sailing in October :) and checking out different excursions.

Do you mean ATV or SUV - you have one in the title and the other in the posting? If you mean SUV - definitely Coastal Car Rental right at the pier. They have great convertible jeeps - really fun!

I meant ATV but think I have changed my mind about that. Deciding between a rental car--the jeep sounds great--or a private taxi. Thanks for the info. I am such a planner!

Jeep will be much cheaper. This is one island where private tours and taxis are very expensive. Coastal Car Rental has great prices and you can get a GPS for $5 that has all the tourist sights and beaches already programmed in. We've done this 10+ times. I read over and over about horrible traffic. The traffic can get heavy right at the downtown pier area, but we've never been closed to missing the ship.

Thanks for the info. This is probably how we will tour the island--then we can do as we please.
