Puntarenas Sloth Sanctuary

Ciyra

Recommended Posts

The sloth sanctuary is on the Caribbean side of the country so for Puntarenas you should consider a visit to the lovely Macaws Sanctuary within 40 minutes drive from port, these animals rescue center has besides scarlet and tropical macaws also sloths (you can't pet them or hold them but see them up close on the trees), monkeys, tapirs and others... Don't hesitate to look for a local guide or driver to go there since in Costa Rica is still very safe to do so!

There are many recommended here!

Is it possible to visit the sloth sanctuary if we're docking in Puntarenas. Anyone have any driver suggestions?? We'll have 12 hours in port.

As far as I know sloths can still be held in Colombia.

Dora knows where they can be found and we spent more time assuring that the sloths were treated humanely than any of the encounters.

This sloth, Paquino...was a happy camper. Check out the smile:

Enjoy your experience. :)
