Karysa Posted August 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2013 ANYONE HAVE SUGGESTIONS FOR A BEACH BAR BY THE PORT WE WANT TO RENT CHAIRS EAT SWIM AND HAVE A FEW DRINKS:p THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE:eek: ANYONE KNOW WHERE THE CREW GOES??? Great Bay beach is nearest to the port and has documented pollution issues. I have seen crew at Orient Beach in the past. There are several nice beaches only a short taxi ride from the port. Take a look at http://www.karakterbeach.com/. Simpson Bay beach is a beautiful and underrated and underused beach on the island.
Spurs Fans Posted August 7, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2013 Great Bay is a nice place to have a drink and lay out, but, as Karysa mentions, there is documented pollution and not a safe place to swim.
landj999 Posted August 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2013 I second that. Went in May, great spot. Friendly people. Just have the cab come Back to pick you up.

In Toronto Posted August 9, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2013 I second that. Went in May, great spot. Friendly people. Just have the cab comeBack to pick you up. A couple of questions. 1. Can the bar not call a cab for you? 2. Do you remember the cost of the cab? Thanks. Ellen
landj999 Posted August 9, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2013 They probably could call the cab, and it was maybe $20 back to the ship
NRichard10 Posted September 17, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 17, 2013 Whatever happened to this great little bar that was right on the beach when you get off the water taxi? Someone told me it is gone?????? They had about 100 flavored daiquiris listed on their menu. It was a great place to hang out before taking the water taxi back to ship. If it is gone, are there any others places like that near the pier?

gtaylor Posted September 18, 2013 #10 Share Posted September 18, 2013 You can walk to the beginning (Eastern end) of the Boardwalk in 15 - 20 minutes. The quick (6 minute) Water Taxi to the center of shopping is nice, as it provides a Photo Op of Great Bay, Philipsburg and the ships at the Cruise Facility, but often the wait to purchase tickets and wait for the boat to be fully boarded is longer than what the walk would take. gary p.s. They sell (relatively) cheep beers on board :)
