Aside from watching planes, can you actually enjoy the beach at all?

I know it's not much of a beach, as co,pare to say Orient, but we would like to enjoy some sun and water also....

And you can rent umbrela's and chairs? From who,Sunset Bar? How much?

Thanks in advance...will be there next week

Maho Beach is small, crowded, rocky, ROUGH, and has the mother of ALL drop-offs a few feet from what laughingly passes for a beach. Mullet Bay is breathtakingly beautiful and an EASY 10 min (tops!) walk away, past resorts and a casino, NOT the middle of nowhere!!

i found out about it from gary on one of the St Maarten port threads when i was doing research for our May 2012 cruise.

BEST DAY EVER !!! and afterwards, we went to Maho so my teenager could see the airplanes too.

Both ends of this tiny beach (Maho) are anchored by restaurants. we ate at Guy's Driftwood Bar and Grill where the burgers were wonderful and the server's were even better !! we would go back there again in a heartbeat.

search the St Maarten forum for Mullet Bay Beach. it made Foder's top 3 and STILL isn't as crowded as orient and other popular beaches.

there are plenty of chairs and umbrellas for rent and i think there was a lolo down the beach with food and drinks. i'm sorry i don't remember the cost exactly, but it was under $15 for 2 chairs and an umbrella.

we'll be on the Royal Princess in March 2014 and are looking at a snorkel catamaran, as long as it stops at Mullet Bay !!
