zhangf Posted August 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2013 We (9 people total) are going to Nassau, Bahamas on 19 Aug 2013 with Aullure of the Sea. It wont be docked on island for too long, 7:00 - 2:00PM. We are thinking going to Guided tour to Atlantis Resort...and looking for some tips, (i.e, should we book the tour on the ship, or should we book it with local private tour company to save the cost, or just take a taxi go to the Atlantics resort), what is the best way for touring the Paradise Island? Will be appreciated if someone could give the tips, and recommend the local tours? Thanks in advance!

The only thing open to the public is the casino, a few of the older shops in the old towers and marina village. If you want to tour.. you need to pay for it Don't know of a private tour company that has touring priveleges in Atlantis. Security will stop you at the door is you just cab over. A guided tour by the cruise ship is just about the only real option for seeing some of Atlantis. Although you still won't be allowed in all of it. even with a tour. jawouds Posted August 23, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2013 Just returned from cruise. We used Sandra of Fergiestour.com for the six of us in Nassau. She was great! Met us with a sign at the dock and took us to Atlantis (quick stop but we got to see the casino and even tried a slot machine there - one of us won $80 in two minutes!) Sandra drove us all around the island and stopped at the fort and at the fishing docks to purchase some conch shells. Stopped by the Fish Fry for take out conch salad and fritters - watched the chef prepare the salad fresh! Even stopped by a small local straw market to get some souvenirs for my 90 yr old mother. Sandra was very accommodating to our group of 6 women ranging from 20 somethings to 90! Very knowledgable and personable!

jawouds Posted August 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 24, 2013 We were gone 4 hours, but we stopped several times and took our time. Sandra had us booked for 2-3 hrs, but never rushed us. She's paid by the hour, not by # of passengers. $50/hr so our tour for 6 people ended up being $200 (plus tip)which seemed very reasonable. Everyone enjoyed it! missdenise Posted August 25, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 25, 2013 Ok, thank you. I have to see how many of us would be interested in the tour, if it's only DH and I, not financially worth our while. But if we have 5 or 6 I would certainly do it.
Sailingstagediva Posted August 25, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 25, 2013 What is the max guests a van can hold? Is there a larger group vehicle?
pjpu Posted August 25, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 25, 2013 Just returned from our cruise. We used a group called Total Package. They offer parasailing, jet ski, snorkeling, banana boat ride and beach time. All we wanted was to snorkel. They are located on the right, right as you come into the Nassau port building. To snorkel is was $40pp and inc beach time, we were gone for a total of 3.5 hrs. They had fresh cooked food (burgers or jerk chicken) that you could purchase for $8 a plate (we spilt 2 plates between the 3 of us). Also inc free rum punch, yellow bird - for other drinks there was a charge. They are very safety conscious... explained how to use equipment, and no drinking until activities are complete. We all had a blast, (2 53yr olds, and 22 yr old DD) dancing on the boat ride home.... fun, fun, fun! :)

OCruisers Posted August 25, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 25, 2013 We (9 people total) are going to Nassau, Bahamas on 19 Aug 2013 with Aullure of the Sea. Since you are going to be there in August when the air/water temps are nice & warm, you might want to consider going to the Blue Lagoon which is quite pretty. pjpu Posted August 26, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 26, 2013 How did you find the tour "Total Package? We found them at the port, first booth on the right. I don't think they have a website, when I googled them I found reviews, all of which are good. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147416-d2163348-Reviews-Total_Package_Watersports_Cruise-Nassau_New_Providence_Island_Bahamas.html We had booked with someone else through email, they were supposed to meet us at the port, but we never found them, so after walking around looking and asking for 30 min, we just decided to go with Total Package, their price was closest to what we'd originally planned to pay the other place, glad we hadn't paid in advance!!!
