CRUZERNUT Posted July 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2005 Carnival offers on-board credit to stock holders (100+ shares). Does anyone know if Royal Caribbean does the same or similar?
missybirchfield Posted July 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2005 They do offer the benefits. I will find the link for you. Missy

gumballz Posted July 2, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2005 How much stock do you need to have in order to receive any benefits from it for RCCL? I know nothing about stocks......but have always been interested in it.

missybirchfield Posted July 2, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 2, 2005 It is 100 shares. As I said, I use www.sharebuilder.com. You don't have to have a set amount of money to put up and they only charge $4.00 per share for buying. Good deal.

That would be 400 just for the fee for buying 100 shares. That sounds not like a good deal for me. What am I missing?
missybirchfield Posted July 2, 2005 #8 Share Posted July 2, 2005 Do some price shopping. You will find that most are higher than that per share. Plus you have to put up alot of money to boot! Missy
jwlane Posted July 2, 2005 #9 Share Posted July 2, 2005 charge $4.00 per share for buying. If you're paying $4 per share, you're getting hosed. Now, if you mean $4 per trade, that's different.

What am I missing? Most brokers charge their commission on a per trade basis. So there would be a $4.00 fee for that entire purchase. *I think, I'm just saying this because my dad has CNBC on a lot* :D
gumballz Posted July 2, 2005 #11 Share Posted July 2, 2005 Well jwlane, that link must have been posted as I was asking.......but thanks for making me feel stupid anyway.
missybirchfield Posted July 2, 2005 #12 Share Posted July 2, 2005 oops, $4.00 per trade. I guess I should read before I post. In a hurry, I guess. thanks. Missy

I just thought that $4 per share would be a bit heavy as it would equal 8,2% of the stock price. No good deal in my eyes, but $4 per trade is OK of course;)
TxKroozer Posted July 2, 2005 #14 Share Posted July 2, 2005 And no limits as to the number of times you can apply for credit. Until they stop the program, you can use it on any cruise. We have used ours three times now and have applied for credit alreadu on two more. Thats $500 on 100 shares and the stock has gone up in that time, not saying it can't go down though. PVDCruiser Posted July 2, 2005 #15 Share Posted July 2, 2005 It's been doing better lately - it bottomed out around $41 in May and now it's back up to $48. *I have that and my other favorite stocks on my Google home page* :)
randallcruiser Posted July 3, 2005 #16 Share Posted July 3, 2005 The link says you had to own the stock by April 15, 2005, is that still true or has it been amended. I know it says you can book thru May 2006, but doed it mean if I don't own the stock now, I cannot take advantage of the benefit? Thanks
terri23 Posted July 3, 2005 #17 Share Posted July 3, 2005 I believe that was clarified to mean in order to get a credit, you must have a statement dated after April 15 showing that you own the shares. You might want to call RCI for confirmation of this.
TxKroozer Posted July 3, 2005 #18 Share Posted July 3, 2005 I believe they extended it again through 2006. May not have updated the information yet. Hard for me to believe they would have a lapse in time. I know they have extended it a number of times now. They place it year to year in case they want to pull it. I say send in your application for it and then check later to see if its credited.

jpres Posted July 4, 2005 #20 Share Posted July 4, 2005 Is there anything about this stock program on RCI's website? Thanks:)
Newfy Friend Posted July 4, 2005 #21 Share Posted July 4, 2005 You have to go the the site for Royal Caribbean investors. You will find the info there under shareholder benefit. It is a very good deal. If I recall correctly, RCL is a little more generous than Carnival, but their dividends aren't as good.
