Attire for the specialty Steakhouse

If you go the first night of your cruise, the dress will be more casual since not everyone always has their luggage and are unpacked. Still -- not shorts and tshirts by any means, but more casual than elegant night. Plus you get a free bottle of wine the first night!

Here's what it says on Carnival's website about the dress code:

*Please note: Steakhouses are only available on Conquest-class, Spirit-class, Splendor-class and Dream-class ships. Please refer to Carnival.com to see if your ship has a steakhouse onboard. Requested dates and times will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis. If requested time is full, the next available time slot will be assigned. Dress Code is Cruise Elegant. Jeans allowed on Cruise Casual evenings. The $35 fee includes an appetizer, entrée, dessert and the wait staff's gratuity; additional gratuities are optional and may be extended in cash or to the guest's Sail & Sign Account, at the guest's discretion. The reservation fee does not include any beverage that is normally ordered through the bar service such as wine, liquor, soda and bottled water. By popular request, all dining rooms are smoke-free. Please allow 2 1/2 hours for dining experience.

99% of everyone we saw in the steakhouse was well dressed (suit and tie or dinner dress). I was frankly offended by the one guy in a white t-shirt who couldn't be bothered to get dressed. This is a special-occasion restaurant with an added fee. The dress code should be enforced in there.

we eat in the steakhouse 2 or 3 times on a seven day.

I don't think I have ever seen someone on a suit or tie?? then again I don't really look

for me a slacks and collared shirt.. I did wear dress shorts once as I was having a good run at the casino table and didn't want to leave

did meet up with my party about 20 mins late , wife wasn't happy but she settled down when she found out I came in up 3k

Even before the dress code was relaxed, dress pants or khackis with a dress or polo shirt was fine on casual night. Now it's acceptable any night.
