Six pack in port?

It's been a number of years since traveling to Belize. We are planning on spending the day at Goff's Caye... Thought it would be smart to bring a six pack since there isn't much on the island.... Is there somewhere in the tourism village to buy a six pack... Or would I have to pay bar prices?

Not sure if they know what a 6 pack is down there. You would probably have to buy a bucket. Would you take your own cooler ?

It would be next to impossible to get the 6 pack back on board w/o being caught & having it confiscated after you go thru the x-ray.

They should have a bar set up on Goff's Caye for you. There is at least 1 liquor store at the Tourist Village where the tenders dock. If they sell any beer at all it'll be one of the varieties of Belikin-Belikin,Lighthouse, Premium or Stout.

 

But I thought the Goff's Caye excursion got picked up at the ship so you might not be able to get over there and back before your excursion begins. Plus, coming back early will subject you to having to drop your 6er at the booze table. And waste an hour of your time.

 

One idea, if you stop in Cozumel before Belize, is to head for one of the Mega stores and buy a sixer or two there. When you return to the ship, do so at a time when there is a longer line of folks coming back on board like closer to the time they tell you to be back, and then when they direct you to the booze table, get lost in the crowd around you and head back to you cabin. The folks manning the screening won't follow you as they are busy and the table will be crowded with others bringing back their bottles from the Dufry shop. Just be prepared to hand it over if you are "caught " and speficially directed to the booze table.
